WPI Helps Re-Create The Largest Mall in the Oregon and Washington
In July, 2008, WPI finished up their extensive exterior stucco job as part of a major $240 million remodel and expansion of the 40-year old Westfield Southcenter Shopping Mall in Tukwila, Washington. The result of this expansion project made this 400,000 square foot retail center the largest indoor shopping mall in Washington and Oregon at the time.
WPI's scope on this project included the installation of a 70,000 square foot exterior rain screen stucco system. The system is comprised of a sheet membrane air and moisture barrier, drainage-mat, 3.4 lb. self-furred expanded metal lath, BMI stucco base, and Dryvit acrylic finish. Eighty five percent of the stucco system is covered in stone, brick or other architectural cladding. The benefits of having the entire exterior skin in stucco, is having one complete air and moisture barrier with drainage on all exterior walls. This assures that there is no weak points where water can penetrate.
The WPI employees are proud to have played an important role in the expansion and remodel of the Westfield Southcenter Shopping Mall. The final finished product is a beautiful new shopping mall which area residents can enjoy for years to come..
