WPI Helps to Expand a Portland Icon
In December of 2003, WPI finished work on the Oregon Convention Center Expansion project. The $118 million expansion added 406,000 square feet to the Convention Center, along with an 800-space parking garage. This addition doubled the existing conference room space and added an additional ballroom to the center. The original Oregon Convention Center, with its trademark twin glass towers, opened in 1990.
The scope of work for WPI included structural and light-gauge metal framing, drywall, finish taping, GFRG, plaster, fireproofing, metal ceiling installation, and acoustical wall & ceiling panel installation. For our attention to detail on this project, WPI received the 2003 Outstanding Interior Commercial Project of the Year award from the Northwest Wall and Ceiling Bureau. WPI is proud to have played a role in expanding an icon which will serve the City of Portland for years to come.
