WPI Completes a Fast Paced Job to Preserve Authentic Space Artifacts and Educate the Public for Years to Come

In June of 2008, after 12 months, WPI wrapped up its work with Hoffman Construction in creating the new Evergreen Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon. With a public opening date that was set in stone and a tight schedule, this project left very little room for error.

WPI's scope of work on this job included structural and light-gauge framing, drywall, taping, and acoustical ceilings. Safety of our work crew was a major concern while they were working off 125-foot boom lifts. Another concern was protecting several one-of-a-kind artifacts that were being brought in from around the world during the final phases of construction.

The new Evergreen Space Museum features the Titan II & IV SLV missiles, the Willamette Meteorite, a replica Lunar Module, a replica Lunar Rover and the Russian Photon Space Capsule. There are also dedicated classrooms for McMinnville High School's Engineering and Science Academy. The completed 120,000 square foot building reflects the same design as the neighboring Evergreen Aviation Museum, home of the famous Spruce Goose airplane.
